This post details how to set up FundraiseUp for your client and who handles which task in the process.

The following is a quick training reference for how to setup FundraiseUp and which team member handles which pieces. This template is set up in Teamwork for launching a new FRU account.

All the details per task are in each task description. Please refer to the task template in Teamwork when launching for more details.

Tasks are assigned to whoever is responsible for them. Exceptions:
  • The database admin assigns tasks to the appropriate writer/designer when launching the tasks.
  • Tasks to be completed by TL. Database assigns to the corresponding TL after launching the task for the specific client.
  1. Website Designer – Launch new donate page in client’s website
    1. Database Lead: Request Fundraise Up account on the Partner website
    2. Team Lead: video
    3. Designer: Create graphics for Fundraise Up “Ask” image and email templates
      • Video walkthrough of graphics needed
      • Sizing guidelines for FundraiseUp
        • Campaign Ask (Main Graphic for Campaign): minimum size 936×524
        • One-Time Receipt (email graphic for one-time donation): minimum size 1160×436
        • Installment Receipt (email graphic for reoccurring donation): minimum size 1160×436
        • Donor Portal (page for donors to see all their info): minimum size 1860×816
        • Browser icon: minimum size 32×32 (not in video)
    4. Writer: Draft text for emails, subject lines, ask screen, and donate button
      • Text Prep FRU Doc Template:

Create a copy of the template file to draft the text for this client. Please attach the link to the client’s FRU text prep doc (the copy you created) in the comments of this task.

      • Video walkthrough of copy needed
      • The Ask page is displayed alongside the donation form. The title should give the main vibe for the ask to donate. For the message text, we want to tell donors why it is important to give to this organization (2-3 sentences).
      • For the emails, we just want to personalize the generic thank you that FRU defaults to; something that speaks closer to what the organization is about (2ish sentences). Donors will receive this email confirmation when they make an online donation (one-time donation, starting a recurring plan, installment for a recurring plan).
      • The Donor Portal is where donors can login to view and manage their donations. We need 1-2 sentences to reinforce the organization’s mission/brand.
    5. Database Lead: Invite [email protected] and other relevant team members as users
    6. Database: Edit main settings
        • Disabled campaign behavior: Launch General Fund checkout
        • Email settings (name, from, tax ID, branding colors, logo, images)
        • Receipt settings (name, from, tax ID, logo, images)
        • Donor Portal settings
    7. Team Lead sets up call with client to set up Stripe account OR Heather links payment processor
    8. Team Lead adds or verifies customer support email address:

In FRU, go to Settings > Account > Public Information

If the email has already been filled out, please verify that it is the correct one

    9. TL: Upload tax exemption verification
      • In Settings > Account > Tax exemption verification (last item on the list, scroll all the way down)
      • Please upload a letter confirming the client’s 501(c)(3) status. This is usually a government-issued document (IRS determination letter). FRU uses this letter to verify the client’s nonprofit status.
    10. Team lead – upload client’s signature file (optional): Please upload the client’s signature file and fill out the name if this info has not yet been filled out
In FRU, go to Settings > Receipt
This is optional. Some clients prefer to not include their signature in mass correspondence and that is OK.
    11. TL: Set the colors according to the client’s brand guide
      • In FRU, go to Settings > Emails
      • Client’s brand guide:
      • Use any of the colors on the brand guide. Use a darker color as the background and then white text or use a lighter color with darker text. You can get a good idea of how the colors are used through the website/logo.
      • If you have questions, please ask the designer for this client.
    12. Set up Campaigns (Database)
    13. Database: Create Elements appropriate to client needs
      • Add and set up donor experience Elements
      • Details in 8:59 to 10:35 of this video

    18. Team Lead- run a test donation, review donate page with client, green-light the new donate page
