This video is helpful in assigning tasks to designers and how to know which tasks need a certain timeline.

Please watch this video regarding design timelines, and reach out to Adrienne for design help if needed.

This is meant to give you an idea of ideal timelines for design projects. These are ideal time windows, and there is always room for adjustment – but we would aim that you shoot for these at a minimum. If you ever need something with a tighter turnaround, just be sure to communicate the urgency and the why, and we will work to help meet the client’s deadline.

These numbers are for first drafts. There will always be edits/etc beyond this. It also always depends on how much direction and information the designer is given. Always give as much information as possible, and we are always open to suggestions from you guys!

We also want to limit the rounds of edits as much as possible. Please communicate to clients to be thorough in their revisions and try to have collected as many of the revisions as possible before sending them back to the designer to make changes. This will speed up the process for everyone. For example, if a client typically has 3+ people on their team review everything, try and make sure you have collected all of the revisions before sending them along for edits. This prevents so much back-and-forth and the designer from doing work that ends up getting changed.

Also, do your best to figure out everything the client may be wanting ahead of time before even assigning the task. Ask questions about dimensions, design ideas, potential pictures, ideas for slogans, and how things should look.

You guys are the information gatherers for us, and the more you get – the easier our job is to create something the client will love.

Also, keep this in mind: Most of our designers do not work over the weekend, so consider that as well when assigning things on a Thursday/Friday and asking for them to be turned around by Monday. Sometimes designers do work over the weekend, but let’s plan as if they are not unless they let you know otherwise!

Print Projects

Postcard/Flyer/Invitation- 2-3 days

Brochure (2-3) Pages – 1+ weeks

Booklet (6+Pages) – 2 weeks for a first draft

Small projects (stickers, bookmarks) – 2-3 days

Digital Projects

Logos/re-branding – 1 week

Websites – 2 weeks minimum, 3 weeks to a month is ideal

Website updates – 1 week (unless something small, easy – also consider if someone other than a designer could do this update)

Branding for a new initiative – 1 -1 1/2 weeks

Email graphics – 2-3 days

Social media graphics – 2-3 days

** for both social media and email graphics, while they are easier projects for us, they can pile up for different clients quickly! While they can be turned around in a few days, as much wiggle room as we can give is always helpful that way we don’t end up with tons of them due on the same day.
